Welcome our Guest Instructor : GALE NATION!!
Gale is a hand-lettering artist who has a permanent space at Bella Patina in the West Bottoms of Kansas City and a home studio in Shawnee, Kansas. She loves penmanship, painting, drawing and has been doodling all her life - even when she is supposed to be paying attention. She's a mom to four funny, brilliant grown kids and has two mini wiener dogs who keep life interesting and give her someone to talk to when she works. Her husband, Vic, is an accountant by day and her carpenter/painter by night and is a key part of her business. Her line is available at stockists across the nation. She does art shows, markets, and fairs and teaches classes across the Midwest.All her work is lettered by hand - no vinyl, stencils or machines. And yes, it's ALL her own handwriting. Don't feel bad - she self-admittedly hates to cook, clean, or do math so amazing penmanship is pretty much her stock in trade. She does, however, make a mean margarita and is an expert at making salsa. Because let's be honest - a girl has to be able to "cook" something!
Classes
Gale will instruct us on hand-lettering which we will learn and practice on Friday. She will bring Chalkboards that we will letter our favorite quote or saying on Saturday.
Additionally we will add felt and fabric decorative flowers, which Rachel will teach, to the corner of our chalkboard.
Rachel will also teach how to make a Composition Notebook Fabric Cover. You will have the opportunity to hand letter a saying on a piece of canvas to add to the cover too which will work great for our practice lettering notebook!
Supplies for students to bring:
-Inspirational Quote or Words that you'd like to letter on your chalkboard and Notebook Cover.
- Fabric Scissors
- Any Special Fabric, ribbons, trims, etc that you'd like to add to your notebook cover.
Agenda
Thursday - arrive between 6:00 - 6:30pm for our welcome dinner, followed by our Vendor Night! (all attendee are allowed to bring items to sell at Vendor Night!)
Friday - arrive at 9:30 am for a Morning Class, lunch will be served and snacks. After lunch head to local antique mall for a shopping experience, after shopping come back and relax, continue work on your projects, dinner will be served around 7:00pm.
Saturday - arrive at 9:30 am for a Full Day Class, lunch will be served and snacks. Finish class up around 5pm, relax and visit, dinner will be served around 6:00 pm followed by dessert and send off.
The Cost :
Alumni Cost : $660 - we love our 'peaters! Alumi always get a special price!
Prior to Jan 15 the Cost will be : $685 EARLY BIRD SPECIAL paid in full!!
After Jan 15 the Cost will be : $715, or payment plans - email me to set up your plan!

Breakfasts will be on your own or included in the Hotel rates if you are staying there.
Classes
Friday and Saturday classes with Gale Nation and Rachel McGough. There will be a supply list provided for you to bring some tools and personal goodies, everything else will be included in class kits.
Goodies
You will receive the OFFICIAL HANDMADE U T-shirt. An adorable personalized item handmade just for you! You will also receive a goodie bag of fun items by amazing sponsors. You will be included in raffle drawings during the weekend. Oh and SO MUCH MORE!!
Shopping Opportunity!
Each semester we've had fun shopping opportunities for you!! We will have a vendor night with lots of unique items for purchase, if you have handmade items that you'd like to sell please let me know! We also shop Friday afternoon at the local antique malls....WOW, lots of fun things to uncover!
Payment secures your spot!! There is limited space in our classroom! Registration is transferable if you are unable to attend, someone may take your place. There will be no refunds however, if you are unable to find someone to take your spot, you will receive all the class kits and goodies delivered to your home.
