Hi Everyone!!

I'm excited to share with you today my chat on the Power of Words with Ali Edwards.  Ali and I met at the Gorge in Washington, when we were there seeing The Dave Matthews Band a couple years ago.   I noticed her Instagram pic, looked over and there she was. So loving DMB is a good start to bonding with someone as far as I'm concerned!

Ali Edwards' passion resides in that very special place where the stories and images of life intersect.

Designer, blogger, workshop instructor, and author of four books about memory keeping, Ali is well known for authentically capturing everyday life with photos and words and creating memory keeping projects from those moments that pass by in an instant.

Guided by simple principles such as not making things more complicated than they need to be, focusing on the things that matter most and embracing imperfection, Ali Edwards is proud to be a work in progress.

She believes without a doubt that there's no right or wrong way to do all this, that the real stories are worth telling, and there's a whole lot of celebrating to do even in the midst of the challenging pieces of life.

Since 2004, Ali Edwards blog, workshops and memory keeping projects have inspired tens of thousands of people to share their own stories and enrich their own lives through the process.

Ali lives in Eugene, Oregon with her two children and their cat George Washington.

Chat #11 The Power of Words with Lisa Palmer

Hi All !

It's Chat #11 and I'm welcoming to the blog today Lisa Palmer, a Brave Sister who is really do some amazing stuff ya'll!

Lisa is an artist and an architect and lives on a ranch in Northern California. She loves to tend to her family and her animals. Recently her husband remodeled an old sheep barn on the ranch for Lisa. It is an art studio and gathering space where she is going to hold classes and retreats. Lisa is a certified Soul Restoration teacher and an avid member of the Brave Girls Club. She teaches Soul Restoration at homeless shelters and is an advocate for homeless people.

Chat #9 The Power of Words with Cheryl Jaeger

Welcome to Chat #9!

Are you loving October or what?  We don't have a lot of changing leaves here yet, we had a ton of rain and now chilly, sweatshirt and boots weather which is divine!  We had a perfect weekend, sunny and warm enough for the Apple Picking BBQ Adoption Fundraiser we has Sunday at the Homestead.  I can't believe it's October and we hadn't picked but a few apple before then!  Our September was nuts!  Still tons of apple for us to press for cider and make into apple butter, apple sauce, apple pie and my fav Apple Crisp!!  This is the week for it!

For today's chat I'm excited to welcome Cheryl Jaeger!  A friend I met on Instagram, someone who shares my love of words and creating.

Cheryl’s life-long love of creating began with the sewing and crafting classes that she took in 4-H (with her mom as her best sewing teacher).  She has been teaching elementary school for 26 years and is a wife and mom to two teenagers.  Her quiet moments are spent designing, cutting, stitching…and imagining the possibilities {a.k.a. avoiding housework}.

Chat #8 The Power of Words with Stasia Savasuk

Hi Everyone!

We are back with our 8th Chat today. If you missed having chats over the weekend, I have decided that this month we'll just have our chats during the week. The weekends are just going to be filled with family things, working around the property and filling out paperwork for our adoption process. So you'll anticipate the Monday chats even more now :)

I love how this chat focuses around how we use words to define a goal or a feeling we are after. With identifying it with words, it helps us figure out a way to get to that end goal. Focusing on the Power Words, a phrase or a motto can help you in how you feel about yourself, help you make decisions that come up, and encourage yourself and others.

Hi Everyone!

It's Day 6 of the Power of Words Handmade U Conversation Series and I'm so excited to have Melinda Edwards with me today on the chat!  It is extra fun today because it's her BIRTHDAY!  Happy Birthday Melinda!

Melinda is a wife, mom of four, jewelry maker and occasional blogger.  She began making jewelry in 2013 after the passing of their four year old son, Jack. What started out as a hobby and a way to pass the time, quickly became a family business. She is blessed to be able to work out of her home on their small Southern Indiana farm. She sells her jewelry on Etsy and local markets. She is so thankful for the opportunity to bless others with meaningful pieces of jewelry and to be able to help her family financially in the process.

Handmade U - Spring 2017 May 4-6! Registration Open NOW!

Hi Everyone!!

I am so excited to announce and open up registration for our Spring semester!  I have been wanting to do an all fabric, all sewing and stitching semester for some time, and FINALLY we are making it happen!

I'll be teaching a really fun and cute binder cover and way to make binder tabs, and pages out of fabric.  Lots of sewing and stitching techniques.

Jennifer Allred, from The Turquoise Tomato is joining us to share TONS of Tips, Techniques and Tags!  Her samples are way cute guys!  I know we are going to have more ideas than time, but you are going to walk away with a binder full of completed items and fresh ideas to take home and work on going forward!  All your projects will be kept in the Stitch Don't Bitch Binder and you'll be able to carry it with you for those moments you need a quiet stitch.

Today's chat is with my special guest Malary Hansen.  I met Malary when she was still in high school, 6 or 7 years ago!  It has been fun to see her grow into a wife, new mom and now business owner.

Malary is a young wife and mama who believes that love matters most. She enjoys cooking and baking healthful foods, spending time with her daughter and husband, being in the mountains, and creating beautiful things.
