Zipper Pouch 101 & 102 - Learn with Handmade U - Supplies

Welcome to Handmade U's Zipper Pouch Classes!

If you know how to sew and are scared of zippers like I was, or you have never sewn before, this class will have you whipping out pouch after pouch!  They will be addicting to make - I warn you now....so grab your stash of fabric, one or more of the Handmade U Kits and let's get going!

Supplies needed:

- Handmade U Zipper Pouch Kits made from all sorts of fun Vintage Quilt Blocks and more will be listed in the ShopHandmadeU Etsy shop, updates will be made periodically so keep an eye out for new ones!!

- Sewing Machine - the one I use is:

- Fabric Scissors - the ones I use are these GOLD ones, I love them!

- Thread - I like these

- Pins

- Clips - I like using these more than pins, some use both

- Ripper - We all make mistakes, so have one of these handy to rip stitches out when you do.

If you didn't get the Kit you will also need the following:

Zipper - A 9 inch or longer zipper - All Purpose plastic teeth, polyester like this one:

For Standard pouches in Zipper101:
Outside Fabric - 2 pieces, 10" x 5.5" each, 100% Cotton works best

Inside Fabric - 2 pieces, 10" x 5.5"  each, 100% Cotton works best

Tab Fabric - 2 pieces 2.5 x 2.5 inches each, 100% Cotton works best

Fusing - 2 pieces For this project I will use Pellon 40, a sew-in type of fusing, 10" x 5.5" each :

Rotary Cutter - I'm partial to Olfa brand, but others will work too...but use one just for fabric, not your paper one!

Cutting Mat -

Cutting Ruler - I like Square rulers since they work for quilting and other crafting. It helps you square up blocks and pieces of fabric to have one this large, but you can use smaller ones as well. 12.5" square or bigger works well.

Iron & Ironing Board

Zipper Pulls - my favorite go to is BetsysCrafty on etsy.

Bell or charms - optional

Additional Items you might enjoy to use in Zipper Pouch 102 are the following:

Vintage Quilt Pieces

Knitted materials

Embroidered Pieces

Stamps for embroidery patterns.  You might find some fun ones over at one of my fav shops Kawaii Goodies

Also my favorite Mason Jar stamp here -  (this will be an important one in upcoming courses as well, so grab one!)

Pick ones with lots of white space and thin lines that can easily be stitched upon like these:

or

Fabric Washi Tape!  - Julie over at Lemony Stitch is always updating her shop with some yummy fabric washi!

The WASHI Pouch Kit at ShopHandmadeU will feature Julie's washi.  Keep an eye out for those kits - a limited supply will be listed!
